California Business & Professions Code Section 6360
A law library established under this chapter shall be free to
the judiciary, to state and county officials, to members of the
State Bar, and to all residents of the county, for the examination of
books and other publications at the library or its branches.
Since our founding in 1874, our mission has remained the same; to empower our residents to do their own legal research. We are open to the general public.

The Law Library is one and a half blocks north of the VTA St. James station for the light rail and Express 180/181 bus.
The Law Library is also served by VTA bus routes 65, 66, 72, 73, and 82. Please contact VTA at (408) 321-2300 for further routes and schedule information.
The Law Library has a parking lot with 30 slots, free for library patron use while visiting the law library. First come, first serve.

Visitors who park in the library patron parking lot are required to register their vehicles in the library foyer.
Violators will be towed at the owner's expense.
Monday thru Thursday:
8 A.M. to 7 P.M.
8 A.M. to 5 P.M.
10 A.M. to 5 P.M. during Daylight Saving Time(Summer)
9 A.M. to 4 P.M. during non-Daylight Saving Time (Winter)
We are currently on 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule
- The Circulation desk and computer terminals shutdown 15 minutes before
- The copy room closes 10 minutes before closing.
- We lock the entrance doors 5 minutes before closing time.
- New borrower registrations are processed up to 30 minutes before closing.
- Please plan your visits accordingly.
We are closed on all court holidays, except
Lincoln's Birthday. When holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, we may also
close on Saturday. Please call for recorded information at (408)299-3567.
We will be closed on Saturday, March 30th and Monday April 1st for Caesar Chavez Day.
The Branch has been shutdown as of July 1st, 2008. Thanks for the memories.
